Forevate vs market research: a partner, not a replacement

Forevate doesn't replace market research. It reads every signal between studies, makes each study go further, and helps you commission fewer, sharper ones.

The question we hear most from marketing teams is a fair one: “We already spend on research every year. Is Forevate meant to replace it?”

No. Forevate and market research answer different questions, on different clocks. Research goes deep on one question at a moment in time. Forevate reads everything around your brand, every day. Used together, each makes the other more valuable, and most teams end up needing fewer, sharper studies rather than more.

Here is how the two fit.

What market research does best

Good research does things no signal feed can:

  • It asks people directly. A well-designed survey or interview hears from the shoppers you choose, in the order you choose, about the questions you care about.
  • It is representative. A proper sample tells you how many people think something, not just how loudly some of them say it online.
  • It explains motivation. Qualitative work gets to the “why” behind a behaviour in a way posts and reviews rarely do.
  • It sizes things. Penetration, awareness, purchase intent, segment sizes: the numbers a business case is built on.

A usage and attitude study, a brand tracker, a segmentation, a concept test: these are the foundations of a good marketing plan, and Forevate is built to make them work harder, not to compete with them.

Where research alone leaves gaps

The limits are not about quality. They are about time and scope.

  • It is a snapshot. A tracker wave tells you how the brand stood in June. It cannot tell you what changed in July, when a rival cut its price and a heatwave sent shoppers to smaller packs.
  • The questions are fixed in advance. A study can only answer what it was designed to ask. The signal you did not expect never makes it into the questionnaire.
  • It sits in decks. Last year’s segmentation lives in a PDF on someone’s drive. When a new question comes up, few people know it is there, and fewer re-read it.
  • It is expensive to repeat. So it runs a few times a year, and the months in between are run on instinct.

A year of market research with and without Forevate: research alone gives three snapshots with blind spots between them; with Forevate, signals are read daily, the planned studies stay, and two short focused studies are added when signals raise a question

## What Forevate adds

Forevate reads the signals around your brand every day and joins them into one picture: social posts and short videos, reviews and complaints, rival prices and launches, the economy, the weather and the calendar, and your own sales, CRM and loyalty data. It tags every signal to the P it moves, product, price, place or promotion, and shows the likely effect on demand.

That fills the space research leaves open: what is changing, right now, and which lever it touches. It does not replace the depth of a study. It tells you when the picture has moved since your last one, and where to look.

Four ways they work together

1. Every study goes further

When a study lands in Forevate, it stops being a deck and becomes context. Your segmentation shapes the personas Forevate reads conversations against. Your tracker’s key drivers sit next to the live signals that move them.

Example. Your annual study says value for money is the top purchase driver for parents. In September, Forevate shows “too expensive” complaints rising, a rival’s cheaper mini pack arriving in small shops, and food prices climbing again. Read alone, the study is last year’s finding. Read together, it tells you the driver you already knew about is under pressure this month.

2. Fewer, sharper studies

Because the day-to-day picture is covered, research money no longer has to buy general awareness of the market. It can go where signals cannot reach.

Forevate is good at noticing that something changed. Sometimes the why still needs people’s own words. When signals raise a question they cannot answer, that is the moment for a short, focused study, not a broad annual one.

Example. Lunchbox posts are up 40% in six weeks and smaller packs are gaining. Is it price, health or portion size? Instead of waiting for the next tracker wave, you run a two-week study with 300 parents on exactly that question, briefed with the signals that raised it.

3. Your research partner, in the same place

You keep the agency or research partner you already trust. Forevate’s Deep Research area lets you brief a research partner when the data is not enough, and track each request from brief to findings, with the signals that raised the question attached. If you do not have a partner, we can introduce one.

When the findings come back, they join the same picture as the signals, so nobody has to remember which deck they are in.

How Forevate and your research partner work together: read every signal daily, spot the open question, brief your research partner from inside Forevate, and the findings join the picture and stay reusable

### 4. Reuse what you have already paid for

Most companies own years of research they rarely open again: past trackers, category studies, concept tests, segmentations. Bring the parts you can share into Forevate and they stay available, read beside today’s signals instead of sitting in old folders.

Example. A concept test from two years ago found that “no added sugar” claims tested well with parents but poorly with teenagers. When Forevate sees sugar content becoming a rising topic among parents this term, that old finding is suddenly useful again, and it is right there.

What this means for your research budget

We do not tell teams to cut research. The usual pattern is a shift in how it is spent:

  • Keep the foundations. Brand tracking, segmentation and big strategic studies stay. Forevate makes them more useful between waves.
  • Spend less on general monitoring. Questions like “what are people saying about our category?” are answered every day.
  • Spend more of what remains on focused questions. Short studies, briefed with real signals, aimed at decisions you are about to make.

The result is research that is cheaper per useful answer, and a marketing team that is never more than a day out of date.

Common questions

Will we still need a brand tracker? Usually, yes. A tracker gives you a representative, consistent measure over time. Forevate shows what moves between waves and why the next wave might look different.

Does Forevate replace qualitative research? No. It reads what people post, review and complain about, which is rich but unprompted. When you need to hear people answer your question in their own words, qualitative research is still the right tool.

Can we bring our existing research in? Yes, the parts you are able to share. Past studies sit beside live signals so your team can use them again.

We don’t have a research partner. Is that a problem? Not at all. Forevate works on its own, and when a question needs a study, we can introduce a research partner or brief yours.
